ABSTRACT
Relevant aspects of developmental dysplasia of the hip are described. The use of the abbreviation DDH can be related either to developmental dysplasia or dysplasic dislocation of the hip. However, the importance of differentiating developmental dysplasia from dysplasic dislocation of the hip is emphasized. Risk factors, signs detected by clinical examination and imaging studies are, fundamental to establish early diagnosis. Critical analysis of different methods of treatment taking in consideration the various age groups is discussed, based on the author's personal experience. Complications and methods for its prevention are described
