Incidencia del herpes zoster en un hospital provincial / Incidence of herpes zoster in a provincial hospital

RESUMEN

El herpes zoster es una enfermedad infecciosa aguda que se acompaña de dolor neurálgico o sensación pruriginosa. Se realizó un estudio longitudinal y descriptivo sobre la incidencia del herpes zoster en el hospital provincial León Cuervo Rubio de Pinar del Río, Cuba, en el año 2001; para ello se estudiaron 20 pacientes con herpes zoster de los 403 ingresados en el servicio de maxilofacial; se analizó el sexo, el color de la piel, la edad, complicaciones y secuelas. Los resultados se expresaron en porcentajes. Se encontró que el herpes zoster afectó más a las personas mayores de 45 años del sexo masculino y de piel blanca. Se presentó como complicación más frecuente la neuralgia posherpética y dejó como secuela parálisis facial, dolores neurálgicos por largo tiempo y parálisis motora.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The herpes zoster are a sharp infectious illness that is accompanied of pain neurálgico or sensation pruriginosa. He/she was carried out a longitudinal and descriptive study about the incidence of the herpes zoster in the provincial hospital León Blond Crow of Pinegrove of the River, Cuba, in the year 2001; for 20 patients they were studied it with herpes zoster of the 403 entered in the maxilofacial service; it was analyzed the sex, the color of the skin, the age, complications and sequels. The results were expressed in percentages. It was found that the herpes zoster affected the grown-ups of 45 years of the masculine sex more and of white skin. It was presented as more frequent complication the neuralgia posherpética and he/she left as sequel facial paralysis, pains neurálgicos for long time and paralysis motorboat(AU)
