Caracterización del adulto mayor en la comunidad / Characterization of the older adult at the community

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo con todos los pacientes mayores de 60 años atendidos en el consultorio médico No 78 del Policlínico Comunitario Docente "Hermanos Cruz" de Pinar del Río, en el período julio a diciembre del 2000, para determinar algunas características del envejecimiento en estos pacientes. Las principales variables a estudiar fueron edad, sexo, ocupación, entrada económica básica, convivencia, grado de independencia, deterioro cognoscitivo y actitud frente al envejecimiento. En todos los casos, los datos fueron recogidos de la historia clínica familiar. Los resultados fueron llevados a tablas para su mejor comprensión y los más importantes fueron los siguientes: el mayor porcentaje se encontraba en las edades de 60-64 años, la mayoría eran jubilados y eran, por tanto, beneficiarios de la seguridad social. Predominó el sexo masculino.. En su gran mayoría vivían con familiares y el funcionamiento familiar era adecuado. Se corroboró que los ancianos de 85 años y más presentaron deterioro cognoscitivo en menor ó mayor grado pero mostraron actitud positiva ante el envejecimiento(AU)

ABSTRACT

He/she was carried out a retrospective descriptive study with all the patients bigger than 60 years Not assisted in the medical clinic 78 of the Policlínico Community Educational Siblings Cruz of Pinegrove of the River, in the period July to December of the 2000, to determine some characteristics of the aging in these patients. The main variables to study were age, sex, occupation, basic economic entrance, coexistence, degree of independence, cognitive deterioration and attitude in front of the aging. In all the cases, the data were picked up of the family clinical history. The results were taken to charts for their best understanding and the most important were the following ones: the biggest percentage was in the 60-64 year-old ages, most was retired and they were, therefore, beneficiaries of the social security. The masculine sex prevailed.. In its great majority they lived with family and the family operation was adapted. It was corroborated that the 85 year-old old men and more presented cognitive deterioration in smaller or bigger degree but they showed positive attitude before the aging(AU)
