ABSTRACT

A miocardiopatia dilatada apresenta alta mortalidade. A abordagem cirúrgica da insuficiência mitral secundária tem sido motivo de investigação. Foram operados 20 pacientes (17 em classe funcional IV) e a ecocardiografia trans-torácica foi empregada para o estudo do remodelamento do ventrículo esquerdo, com avaliações antes da operação e nos terceiro, sexto, décimo segundo e décimo oitavo mês de seguimento. A análise de variância detectou melhora da fração de ejeção e diminuição nos diâmetros e volumes sistólicos e diastólicos até o terceiro mês. Nota-se estabilidade a partir de então. A sobrevida ao final do quinto ano foi de 40 por cento.
