RESUMO
A TB permanece como um principal desafio para a saúde pública e para a Atenção Primária à Saúde. Objetivo:
analisar as internações por TB pulmonar no Estado de São Paulo no ano de 2004.Metodologia:
foram coletados dados referentes a número de internações por tuberculose pulmonar segundo sexo e faixa etária; média de permanência de internação; óbitos ocorridos durante a internação e custos da internação para o SUS. Dados coletados através do DATASUS.Resultados:
no ano de 2004 observaram-se 4.859 internações por tuberculose pulmonar no Estado de São Paulo, verificando-se maior número de internações no sexo masculino - 4.079 (84 por cento); a média geral de permanência no hospital foi de 26,2 dias, 202 (4,53 por cento) pacientes foram a óbito, sendo que destes 155 eram do sexo masculino; verificaram-se maiores custos nas idades menores de 14 anos.Conclusão:
entende-se que o diagnóstico precoce seja um ponto fundamental na identificação do quadro de TB, a fim de amenizar o número de internações por TB; entretanto, faz-se necessário uma Atenção Primária à Saúde que seja capaz de contemplar tais ações.ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis (TB) continues as one of the main challenges for public health and primary health care. Objective:
to analyze hospitalizations for pulmonary TB that occurred in the State of São Paulo in 2004.Methodology:
data were collected related to number of hospitalizations for pulmonary tuberculosis according to gender and age range; average hospitalization time; deaths during hospitalizations and hospitalization costs for the Unified Health System (SUS), using DATASUS, the SUS database.Results:
in 2004, 4,859 hospitalizations for pulmonary tuberculosis occurred in the State of São Paulo. Hospitalizations were more frequent among men, with 4079 (84 percent) cases; average hospitalization time was 26.2 days; 202 (4.53 percent) patients died, 155 of whom were men; higher costs were found for patients under 14.Conclusion:
Early diagnosis is essential in the identification of TB, with a view to reducing the number of TB hospitalizations, however there is a need for a primary health care service that is capable of accomplishing these actions.
