Percepção dos professores sobre o novo currículo de graduação da Faculdade de Medicina da UFG implantado em 2003 / How the teachers perceive the new graduation curriculum established in 2003 in the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Goiás-UFG

RESUMO

A Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Goiás (Famed/UFG) implantou, em 2003, um novo currículo de graduação em Medicina, com o apoio do Programa de Incentivo às Mudanças Curriculares nos Cursos de Medicina (Promed). O presente trabalho objetivou colher a percepção dos professores a respeito do currículo reformulado. Na coleta dos dados foi empregado um questionário com questões abertas e fechadas, entregue aos professores das três séries iniciais do curso de Medicina. A maioria dos docentes (77 por cento) revelou ser favorável à reformulação curricular, citando como pontos positivos a maior integração interdisciplinar, a ampliação do tempo de internato e a adequação à realidade do sistema de saúde. Outros pontos levantados pelos professores foram o aumento da carga horária curricular, a resistência de alguns docentes à mudança e a necessidade de aprimorar o programa de capacitação docente oferecido pela Famed/UFG. O conhecimento da forma como o currículo é avaliado pelos docentes pode contribuir em muitas instâncias para o seu aperfeiçoamento. Daí a necessidade de estudos desta natureza como respaldo às mudanças efetuadas nos currículos.

ABSTRACT

The Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Goiás (Famed-UFG) established in 2003 a new curriculum for medical graduation, supported by the Program for the Encouragement of Changes in the Curriculum of Medical Schools (Promed). The aim of this study was to collect data regarding the opinion of the teachers about the new curriculum. As an instrument for collecting information we elaborated a questionnaire with objective and subjective questions, which was delivered to the professors of the first three years of the course. The greater part of teachers (77 percent) revealed to be in favor of the reformulation, mentioning as improvements more integration among disciplines, extension of the internship period and being adapted to the reality of the health system. Other points mentioned were the increased workload, the resistance to changes of some of the teachers and the need to improve the continued professional capacity building program offered by our school. Knowing how the teachers think about the new curriculum can in many ways be useful for its improvement and shows that studies of this kind are necessary to support the changes in the curriculums.
