A subjetividade como anomalia: contribuições epistemológicas para a crítica do modelo biomédico / Subjectivity as anomaly: epistemological contributions for a criticism of the biomedical model

RESUMO

Este artigo tem como proposta estabelecer uma discussão sobre a biomedicina trazendo à tona uma reflexão sobre o lugar que os fenômenos subjetivos relacionados ao adoecimento ocupam nesse modelo. Utilizaremos como principal instrumento de análise a epistemologia, com destaque especial a Thomas Kuhn e às noções de "paradigma e anomalia", e à contribuição de Ludwick Fleck com os conceitos de "exceções das teorias e a tendência à persistência nos sistemas de idéias". Acreditamos que a presente reflexão possa vir a ser um exercício fundamental e oportuno para a otimização/transformação do paradigma biomédico, na medida em que é consensual o alto grau de subjetividade que envolve a prática médica.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to open a discussion on biomedicine focused on a reflection about the role subjective phenomena related to the experience of illness are playing in that model. We use epistemology as our main analytic tool, with emphasis to the work of Thomas Kuhn and his ideas of paradigm and anomaly and the contributions of Ludwik Fleck and his concepts of exceptions to theories and the persistence of thought styles. We believe that the reflections presented here can become a fundamental and suitable exercise for improving/transforming the biomedical paradigm, principally in view of the high degree of subjectivity involved in the medical practice.
