Paternidad y maternidad en la adolescencia conocimiento científico producido en la última década / Paternity and maternity during adolescence: scientific knowledge gathered over the last decade

RESUMEN

Se analizó la producción del conocimiento científico relativo a la maternidad y la paternidad en la adolescencia, mediante una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica respectiva. Métodos: Se identificaron las producciones científicas del período comprendido entre 1995 y 2004. Se encontraron 63 publicaciones que abordaron las siguientes temáticas Ámbito social de la maternidad y paternidad en la adolescencia, Salud materna en la adolescencia, Lactancia, Salud de los recién nacidos hijos de adolescentes y Prácticas de anticoncepción en la adolescencia. Los resultados de las investigaciones indican que los profesionales deben tener conocimiento sistematizado de las innumerables perspectivas que involucran la maternidad y la paternidad en la adolescencia para desarrollar una práctica asistencial fundamentada en evidencias científicas y de acuerdo con el contexto sociocultural.

ABSTRACT

This study deals with the analysis of the scientific knowledge yielded concerning maternity and paternity during adolescence. The purpose was to perform a systematic review of scientific literature regarding paternity and maternity during adolescence. Scientific articles written during the 1995–2004 period were identified. The research allowed to identify 63 publications dealing with the following topics Social environment of maternity and paternity during adolescence, maternal health during adolescence, breastfeeding, health of newly born from adolescent parents, and contraception practices in teenagers. The results of investigations indicate that professionals must have systematic knowledge of the innumerable perspectives associated with maternity and paternity among teenagers, in order to develop an assistance practice based on scientific evidence, and adequate in the sociocultural context.
