Aun la muerte es un asunto de cuidado para enfermería / Even death is matter that require nurse care

RESUMEN

Debido a dos situaciones de enfrentamiento y manejo de la muerte que representaron momentos críticos en mi vida, una como estudiante y la otra como docente, es que deseo compartir esta reflexión con el propósito de recordar el profesionalismo que lleva implícito el abordaje de la muerte en nuestro quehacer diario, pero también la necesidad de recordar que justamente como mujeres, enfermeras, madres e hijas, experimentamos diferentes calidades y cantidades de sentimientos que debemos entender, conocer y manejar para tener la posibilidad de acompañar al paciente y a sus familiares a enfrentar tan difícil y dolorosa situación sin agredirnos a nosotras mismas, o “dejar de lado nuestra propia emotividad en aras de la idoneidad y profesionalismo.”

ABSTRACT

Due to the coupled situation of facing and managing a death which constitute a critical moment in someone else's life, one as a student and the other as faculty, both individuals wish to share this reflection with the purpose of reminding those involved, of the need for professionalism that is implicit in facing death as part of our daily work, but also the need to remind nurses that those who are women nurses as women, mothers, daughters, we experiment different types and amounts of feeling that must be understood and recognized and managed in order to have the possibility of accompanying the patient and the family in facing such a difficult and painful moment without offending ourselves or pretending to set aside our own emotions in pro of suitability and professionalism.
