Morbimortalidad en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos de Ciego de Ávila, Enero- Junio 2006 / Morbimortality at the pediatric ICU of Ciego de Avila city, January-June 2006

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo para determinar el comportamiento de la Morbi-mortalidad y la ventilación en los niños ingresados en UCIP del Hospital General Docente Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola en el primer semestre del 2006. Utilizamos como fuente de información las historias clínicas y el libro de registro de la sala, los datos obtenidos se procesaron manualmente y se analizaron por medidas de frecuencia presentándolos en tablas y cuadros estadísticos obteniéndose los siguientes resultados: Los grupos de edades con más ingresos fueron menores de 1 año (34.1 porciento) y de 1-4 años (44.2 porciento), las morbilidades más frecuentes fueron, infecciones del Sistema Nervioso Central (17.3 porciento), Enfermedad Diarreica Aguda (13.8 porciento), afecciones quirúrgicas (12.2 porciento). Los niños ingresados proceden de los diferentes servicios del hospital (49.2 prociento) y del Cuerpo de Guardia (42.0 porciento). La tasa de mortalidad del servicio fue de 43.4, la del menor de 1 año 85.1 y las tasas por sepsis 16.7x 1000 ingresados. Se ventilaron el 5.8 de los ingresados, el 62.5 porciento por más de 72 horas y el 37.5 porciento de los mismos fallecieron.

ABSTRACT

We conducted a descriptive observational study in order to determine the behavior of morbimortality and ventilation of children admitted to the ICU of the Dr Antonio Luaces Iraola General Hospital in the second trimester of 2006. As a source of information we utilized the clinical records and the register book of the ward. The data gathered were manually processed and were analyzed by measures of frequency in statistical tables and squares. Results: The age group with more admissions was that of under one year of age (34, 1%) and that from 1-4 years (42, 0%); the more frequent morbidities were CNS infections (17, 5%), Acute diarrhea (13, 8%), surgical affections (12, 6%). The children admitted come from the hospital service (49, 2%) and from the emergency room (42, 0%). The lethality of the service was as low as (4, 34%), under one year of age (8, 5%) and for sepsis (1, 67%).As low as (5.8%) of the admissions was ventilated, as high as (65, 5%) for more than 72 hrs and (37, 5%) died.
