Estudio bioquímico y quirúrgico de pacientes con diversas patologías orales: Antofagasta, Chile / Biochemical and surgical study of patients with diverse oral pathologies. Antofagasta, Chile

ABSTRACT

A study of 24 cases with diverse oral pathologies appears at Medicine and Odontology Faculty of the University of Antofagasta between years 2001 and 2004, concurred to the Clinic of the Department of Odontology, between which were made measuements of the levels in protein saliva, catalasa and deshidrogenase. For the comparison aims one included 26 healthy people. It was observed high protein levels, like also greater enzymatic activity (catalasa and LDH), proportional to the type of diagnosed periodontal diseases in the patients, specially in the cases of periodontitis, oral cancer, peripheral granuloma and fissured epulis. The totality of the cases responded to the installed treatments, standing out the use of conventional screws of osteosynthesis, to fix the prothesis or canals to surgery of fissured epulis, or deepenings of lobbies, improving well-known the times of recovery, diminishing the hemorrhagic and increasing the comfort of the patient.

RESUMEN

Se presenta un estudio de 24 casos con diversas patologías orales que concurrieron a la clínica del Departamento de Odontología de la Universidad de Antofagasta entre los años 2001 y 2004, entre los cuales se realizaron mediciones de los niveles en saliva de proteínas, catalasa y deshidrogenasa. Para los fines de comparación se incluyó 26 personas sanas. Se observó altos niveles de proteínas, como también mayor actividad enzimática (catalasa y LDH), proporcional al tipo de enfermedades periodontales diagnosticadas en los pacientes, especialmente en los casos de periodontitis, cáncer oral, granuloma perférico y epulis fisurado. La totalidad de los casos respondió a los tratamientos instalados, destacándose la utilización de tornillos convencionales de osteosíntesis, para fijar las prótesis o canaletas en cirugía de épulis fisurados, o en profundizaciones de vestíbulos, mejorando notoriamente los tiempos de recuperación, disminuyendo el sangramiento y aumentando el confort del paciente.
