Desconforto músculo-esquelético no pós-parto e amamentação / Musculoskeletal discomfort post-partum and breastfeeding

RESUMO

O desconforto músculo-esquelético (DME) é uma queixa comum entre as puérperas freqüentemente atribuído à sobrecarga física que está relacionada aos cuidados com o bebê e à amamentação, porém esse tema não têm sido pesquisado. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste estudo é investigar o DME, nos primeiros seis meses após o parto, entre as mulheres que amamentam e as que não amamentam. Realizou-se um estudo transversal controlado, envolvendo 76 primíparas distribuídas em dois grupos, Grupo 1 (G1), composto por 38 mulheres que amamentavam e Grupo 2 (G2), com 38 mulheres que não amamentavam. Aplicou-se um questionário que forneceu informações gerais sobre a mulher, o seu filho, a amamentação e os sintomas músculo-esqueléticos. Empregou-se o qui-quadrado para comparar as freqüências entre os grupos, com nível de significância de 5%. Os resultados revelaram elevado índice de DME, na amostra em geral (78,9%), sem diferença estatística significante entre os grupos. No entanto, as mulheres do G1 referiram a amamentação como a segunda causa de seu desconforto. Esses achados evidenciam a necessidade de ampliar as investigações sobre o tema, no âmbito multiprofissional, deixando de considerá-lo como uma conseqüência normal do ciclo gravídico-puerperal para buscar estratégias eficazes de prevenção e tratamento. Assim, contribuir-se-á para a saúde e o bem-estar materno-infantil.

ABSTRACT

The musculoskeletal discomfort (MSD) is a common complaint among the women who have just had a child and it is frequently attributed to the physical overload that is related to the cares with the baby and breastfeeding, however this subject is still little searched. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the MSD, in the first six months after the childbirth, in women who breastfeed and do not breastfeed. A controlled transversal study was fulfilled, involving 76 women who had their first child, distributed into two groups, Group 1 (G1), composed by 38 women who breastfeed and Group 2 (G2), with 38 women who did not breastfeed. A questionnaire was applied to supply general information about the woman, her child, the breastfeeding and the musculoskeletal symptoms. The qui-square teste was used to compare the frequencies between the groups, with a significance level of 5%. The results revealed high index of MSD, in the general sample (78.9%), without significant statistics difference between the groups. However, the G1 women related breastfeeding as the second cause of their discomfort. These findings evidence the necessity of extending the inquiries on the subject, in the multi professional way, not considering it as a normal consequence of the pregnancy and after birth cycle anymore, to search efficient strategies of prevention and treatment. Thus, one will contribute for the health and maternal-infantile well-being.
