ABSTRACT
The study aimed to analyse stiffness of hemiparetic lower limb after electrical stimulation. Subjects:
A hemiparetic with 39 years old, male was evaluated. It was used Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) and flexor and extensor torques were measured by isokinetic apparatus Cybex. A 30 minutes electrical stimulation protocol was applied with the Endophasys -R apparatus. It was applied a current at sensory threshold, carry frequency 2500 Hz and stimulation frequency of 20 Hz. Evaluation procedures were made before and immediately after electrical stimulation.. Both MAS pointed 3 before and after stimulation. Isokinetics tests detected significant reduction in resistance after intervention, with prominence for extensor torques obtained in the higher velocity (90o./s) (p < 0,005) These dada have similarities with other studies, although it presented discrepancies concerning methodologies. The results reinforce that electrical stimulation intervention is a potential adjuvant in reeducation for individuals with motor control alterations.
