Amamentação e respiração bucal: abordagem fisioterapêutica e odontológica / Breastfeeding and mouth breathing: physiotherapeutic and odontological approach

RESUMO

A correlação entre a morfologia crânio-facial e o padrão respiratório é de grande interesse pela importância prática para ortodontistas, fisioterapeutas, fonoaudiólogos, pediatras e otorrinolaringologistas já que o hábito da respiração bucal pode acarretar modificações neuromusculares, esqueléticas, dentárias e funcionais. A partir desta revisão, pode-se aferir a complexidade de alterações do paciente com a síndrome do respirador bucal no que se refere à multiplicidade de áreas envolvidas no diagnóstico e tratamento. Diante disso, enfatiza-se a necessidade de uma atuação multidisciplinar e interdisciplinar, a fim de que as condutas terapêuticas sejam precoces e efetivas visando à normalização das inadequações funcionais.

ABSTRACT

The relationship between the cranium and the face structures and the respiratory pattern is of great practical interest for orthodontists, orthopaedists, physical therapists, phonoaudiologists, paediatrists and otorrinolaringologists since respiration by mouth can get functional alterations on neuromuscular and skeletal systems, bad tooth implantation and other abnormalities. By means of this revision on literature it can be seen the complexity of alterations in patients that show mouth breathing according to the great number of areas involved in diagnosis and treatment. For these reasons it is emphasized the necessity of a whole treatment looking to all dysfunctional aspects with therapies sooner applied and of effectiveness looking for normalization of dysfunctional problems.
