Estimulação elétrica funcional na subluxação inferior do ombro hemiplégico / Functional electrical stimulation in hemipareticshoulder joint subluxation

RESUMO

A subluxação do ombro hemiplégico é encontrada em signifi cativo número de pacientes após acidente vascular encefálico (AVE). Alguns estudos têm demonstrado efi cácia com o uso da estimulação elétrica funcional (EEF) na redução da subluxação do ombro hemiplégico. Objetivando verifi car o efeito da EEF no tratamento da subluxação do ombro hemiplégico e sessões de fi sioterapia, o presente estudo investigou e acompanhou 3 pacientes durante período de 8 semanas. Todos os sujeitos foram submetidos à aplicação da EEF 2 vezes por semana com duração de 40 a 50 minutos em cada sessão de fi sioterapia. Não foi utilizado nenhum outro tipo de recurso fisioterapêutico durante o tratamento com a EEF. Os resultados, avaliados através de exame de Raio-X, revelaram redução da subluxação do ombro hemiplégico no caso de AVE recente, enquanto houve aumento da subluxação no caso do paciente portador de AVE há mais de 1 ano. Desta forma, a EEF parece ser um recurso efi caz para a redução da subluxação do ombro em pacientes portadores de AVE há menos de 1 ano.

ABSTRACT

The shoulder subluxation is found in a signifi cant number of patients after cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Studies have demonstrated effectiveness of use of functional electric stimulation (FES) in the subluxation reduction of the hemiplegic shoulder. In order to verify the eff ect of the FES in the subluxation of the hemiplegic shoulder in physical therapy sessions, the present study followed three patients during 8 weeks. All of them had been submitted to FES two times per week with duration of 40 the 50 minutes in each session of physical therapy. Th e results, evaluated through examination of X-Ray, had disclosed subluxation reduction of the hemiplegic shoulder in the case of recent CVA, while it was noticed an increase of the subluxation in patients who suff ered CVA one year or more before. In conclusion, the FES seems to be an effi cient resource for the reduction of the subluxation of the shoulder in patients who suff ered CVA less than 1 year ago.
