O exercício físico e a regeneração muscular / The exercise and the muscle regeneration

RESUMO

Um dos mais importantes avanços no tratamento das lesões musculoesqueléticas provém da compreensão de que o início rápido da atividade pode promover a recuperação da função, enquanto o tratamento desta com repouso prolongado poderá retardar a recuperação, desfavorecendo a regeneração muscular. Esta revisão objetiva estabelecer os mecanismos envolvidos na regeneração muscular e apresentar resultados de estudos relacionados ao efeito da mobilização no tratamento das lesões musculares. Os estudos apresentados recomendam a prática do exercício físico para auxiliar o processo de regeneração muscular, embora algumas variáveis como tempo de início, duração, intensidade e tipo de exercício devam ser alvos de pesquisas futuras.

ABSTRACT

One of the best advance in the treatment of skeletal muscle injuries are related to the knowledge that exercise is important to improve muscle healing, while the use of inactivity can impair the healing process. The aim of this review is to present the mechanisms involved in the muscle regeneration and also to show the results of studies related to the effect of mobilization in the treatment of these muscle injuries. The studies suggest to use the physical exercise to improve the muscle regeneration process, although some variables such as the early or late onset, duration and intensity of exercise and the type of exercise should be studied in more detail.
