Considerações sobre a morte e o morrer na hipermordenidade / Considerations on death and dying in hypermodernity

RESUMO

O artigo tem como objetivo ser uma análise crítica da tentativa vigente de circunscrição técnica e legal do conceito de eutanásia, que tende a deslocar esta discussão das questões existenciais sobre a morte e o morrer no contexto histórico e social atual. Tendo como fio condutor a relação entre o aspecto do direito da promoção do alívio do paciente, um objetivo crucial na tradição médica, aponta que ele deve ser considerado sob três diretrizes a realidade social e as estruturas simbólicas a partir das quais construímos nossa gramática social do mundo; os imaginários sociais que emergem em cada dado momento histórico sobre a vida e a morte e, mais especificamente, o contexto atual, nesses tempos hipermodernos, marcados pelo hiperconsumo, pelo hipernarcisismo e pela ideologia do excesso e da urgência e cuja forma de expressão por excelência do mal-estar hipermoderno é a perda gradual de sentido, o apagamento dos horizontes morais e a redução do espaço para o exercício da liberdade e da autonomia dos indivíduos. Neste contexto, a relação do indivíduo hipermoderno com a própria morte e a dos outros parece oscilar entre considerá-la desde o destino certo, ao lugar de puro horror, como o eterno retorno à nadificação de si mesmo, no âmbito de uma cultura tragicofóbica, que tende a interpretar a morte como uma traição cometida pela tecnociência, que nos acena ilusoriamente com a possibilidade de juventude eterna e “extinção” da morte.

ABSTRACT

The article has as its objective, the analysis of the legal and technical circumscription of the concept of euthanasia, as well as some psychosocial aspects, having as it’s main thread the rights of a patient to promote his/her own relief, an objective which is crucial in the medical profession. This should be considered from three viewpoints a social reality as the symbolic structures on which we base our behavior in society, the social imageries that emerge at given historical times about life and death; and, more specifically, our current context in hyper modern times, marked by hyper-consumerism, hyper-narcissism and by the idealogical concept of excesses and urgency. These lead to a gradual loss of self-expression, an uneasiness in these very modern times, a loss of sense, of moral values and the reduction of space in which to exercise individual liberties and autonomy. In this context, the hyper-modern individual, has a relationship with death, his own and that of others, which oscillates between seeing death as certain destiny or sheer horror, a return to nothingness, and in a “ tragifobic” culture, the tendency is to interpret death as a treachery of techno science, which beguiles us with the illusion of the death of death.
