RESUMEN
Con el objetivo de elaborar una guía español-inglés para la comunicación médico-paciente y médico-profesional en el área de los estudios de laboratorio, se procedió a identificar los análisis que solicitan los médicos con mayor frecuencia, el vocabulario necesario para tratar con los pacientes y para realizar las discusiones de casos con otros especialistas, a partir de la observación en los consultorios médicos, la entrevista a médicos generales integrales y la consulta de sus libros de texto fundamentales. Se identificaron 58 estudios complementarios, así como una serie de frases comunes útiles para la comunicación en esta área de la actividad clínica. La guía elaborada, al alcance de los profesionales cubanos de la salud, es un instrumento más en su poder para continuar realizando proezas en materia de salud a escala mundial.
ABSTRACT
Aimed at making a Spanish-English guide for doctor-patient and doctor-other health professionals communication in the field of lab studies, the tests more frequently requested by doctors, and the vocabulary needed to treat patients and to discuss the cases with other specialists were identified starting from observation at the family physicians' offices, the interview to comprehensive general doctors and the consultation of their fundamental text books. 58 complementary tests were defined, as well as a series of useful common phrases for the communication in this area of clinical activity. These investigations were classified according to the frequency doctors order them. The vocabulary needed to talk to patients and to discuss cases among health professionals were also considered, this work started visiting some medical offices to interview some general practitioner doctors and also studying some of their medicine books. A set of 58 investigations and some common phrases used in this clinical area were identified. This guide, in the hands of Cuban health professionals, is another instrument to continue doing a great job all over the world.
