Depressão - uma 'psicopatolologia' classificada nos manuais de psiquiatria / Depression: a psychopathology classified in psychiatry manuals

RESUMO

O presente trabalho discute o fenômeno da depressão resgatando uma visão de psicopatologia que destaca a psicanálise, em vez da psiquiatria biológica. Para tanto, fez-se um resgate histórico da influência dos ditames da ciência moderna no paulatino desaparecimento do termo melancolia em função da classificação dos manuais de psiquiatria e, do conhecimento psicopatológico em detrimento da perspectiva organicista. Abordou-se também, a contribuição da psicopatologia psicanalítica da depressão, uma perspectiva cuja atividade diagnóstica não se encerra na classificação, mas enfatiza a dimensão biográfica como imprescindível para a execução da tarefa diagnóstica. Finalmente, conclui-se que é relevante considerar (1) o tratamento da depressão baseando-se na singularidade do sujeito que apresenta tal quadro e, não somente na sintomatologia; (2) que nem toda manifestação de tristeza é uma manifestação patológica; e, (3) a compreensão da depressão normal enquanto luto, no sentido psicanalítico do termo, que, após um certo lapso de tempo, necessita ser superado e a libido reinvestida em outros objetos.

ABSTRACT

This work discusses the depression phenomenon, pursuing a vision of psychopathology where does not only predominate the perspective of biological psychiatry, but also a psychoanalysis perspective. For this, it was carried out a historical research of psychopathology that, under the influence of the dictates of modern science, has contributed for the gradual elimination of the term melancholy due to psychiatry classification and psychopathology knowledge in detriment of biological psychiatry. It was also analyzed the contribution of the psychoanalyst psychopathology of the depression within a perspective in which the diagnostic activity is not concluded in terms of classification, and emphasizes the biographical dimension as indispensable for the definition of that activity. Finally, it was concluded that it is relevant to consider (1) depression treatment based on the uniqueness of the individual, and not only taking into account its symptoms; (2) not all sadness manifestations are pathological; and, (3) the understanding of normal depression while mourning in the psychoanalyst meaning of the term, because, after a certain time period, it should be surpassed and libido embedded in other objects.
