Cergueira e subjetivação: da formação do sujeito cego no ocidente contemporâneo / Blindness and the production of subjectivity: the production of the blind subject in contemporary western world

RESUMO

O artigo propõe discutir a relação entre o processo de subjetivação do cego e os sentidos que a cegueira carrega, no Ocidente contemporâneo. Ressalta os efeitos diretos desta produção discursiva da cegueira, como uma anomalia, sobre os regimes de funcionamento da visualidade. Por fim, a partir da análise do filme "À Primeira Vista", de Irwin Winkler, enfoca alguns dos sentidos que a tradição ocidental confere à cegueira, assinalando o modo como os fenômenos do espetáculo e do consumo introduzem novas questões a esta problemática.

ABSTRACT

The article suggests that the process of subjectivation of the blind depends on the meaning of blindness in contemporary western world, and discusses the effects of the construction of blindness as an anomaly in the functioning procedures of visuality. Finally, through an analysis of the movie "At First Sight", it points out different meanings of blindness in western tradition, in which spectable and consumption are phenomena that require careful consideration.
