RESUMEN
Se estudiaron 224 fallecidos con autopsias, en Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Dr. Carlos J. Finlay, en el período del 2000 al 2002, con el propósito de precisar las principales causas básicas y directas de muertes, así como determinar el grado de correlación clínico-patológica; con este fin, se utilizó la clasificación empleada en el Sistema Automatizado de Registro y Control de Anatomía Patológica. La ateroesclerosis coronaria constituyó la principal causa básica de muerte, tanto por diagnóstico clínico como autópsico y el choque fue la causa directa más frecuente. La discrepancia diagnóstica fue de 26.1 por ciento, en la causa básica de muerte, y de 29.9 por ciento , en la causa directa de muerte.
ABSTRACT
In the intensive care unit at Carlos J. Finlay Hospital ,224 deceased with necropsy documents were studied from 2000 to 2002, in order to determine the main basic and direct causes of death and to know the clinical pathological correlation, with this purpose was utilized a classification applied in the automated system of registration and control of pathological anatomy. The coronary arteriosclerosis represents the main basic cause of death for clinical diagnosis for necropsies and shock is the most frequent direct cause. The diagnostic discrepancy is 26.1 percent in the basic cause of death and 29.9 percent in the direct cause of death.
