Avaliação de práticas educativas em saúde bucal em um município de pequeno porte / Evaluation of dental health educational practices in small-sized municipality

RESUMO

A utilização de materiais atrativos, fáceis de entender e interessantes aos pacientes no processo de educação em saúde bucal podem aumentar o interesse pacientes, envolvendo-os e otimizando este processo. Objetivou-se analisar as praticas de educação em saúde bucal utilizadas por cirurgiões dentistas de um município de pequeno porte no interiordo estado do Paraná. Participaram do estudo175 adultos e o instrumento de coleta dos dados foi um questionário. Verificou-se que o profissional cirurgião-dentista mais procurado foi o que trabalha no serviço público. Do total de entrevistados, 66,8% procurou o dentista porque apresentava dor em algum dente, sendo a extração dentaria o procedimento mais realizado durante as consultas odontológicas. Com relação ao recebimento de informações em saúde bucal pelos pacientes, 55,4 % dos respondentes afirmaram não ter recebido informações; dos que receberam informações 79,8% atestou ter recebido apenas verbalmente. Concluiu-se que a maior parte da população estudada buscou o serviço publico como fonte da assistência odontológica, e que os métodos verbalísticos foram os mais utilizados pelos profissionais nos processos de educação em saúde. Percebeu-se que os usuários encontram-se satisfeitos com a forma de condução das atividades realizadas pelo cirurgião-dentista que os assistiu.

ABSTRACT

The use of attractive materiais, easy to understand and interesting to the patents in the oral health education process can increase the interest of the patients, involvng them and optimizing this process. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the oral health education practices used by dentists in a small city situated in the state of Parana, Brazil. The sample of the study was composed by 175 adults and the instrument of collection of the data was a questionnaire. It was verified that the majority of the population in the study sought the dentist that works in the public service. Of the interviewees, 66,8% sought the dentist because was feeling toothache and the dental extraction was the procedure more accomplished during the consultations. With relationship to the information in oral health received by the patients by dentists, 55.4% of them affirmed not to have received information and, of the ones that received information, 79.8% of them attested to have received it just verbally. It was concluded that most of the studied population sought fot the public service as source of odontologic attendance and that the haalth education process performed by the professional was reazed mainly by oral instructions. It was noticed that the users was satisfied with the form of conduction of the activities accomplished by the dentist that attended them.
