ABSTRACT
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is vulnerable to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Many factors that may predispose to dysfunction have been studied. The posture alteration may be a cause of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). This study aimed to verify the prevalence of symptoms of TMD in women with vertebral pain. It was evaluated 20 women between 19 and 51 years in one physical therapy clinic with vertebral pain (12 with cervical pain and 8 with low back pain). To obtain the data we used questionaries of the research diagnostic criteria to TMJ. It was noted that the woman with cervical pain presented more signs and symptoms of dysfunction than that who have low back pain.
