Ser um homem segundo a tradição? / Being a man according to tradition?

RESUMO

Este estudo teórico analisa o mal-estar masculino no mundo contemporâneo a partir de Freud e Lacan. Esse mal-estar é associado a uma crise de identidade devida ao vacilo das representações, fundadas no contexto edipiano e em uma idealização da função paterna, com as quais o imaginário social define a virilidade. Discute as implicações do declínio do pai na constituição da masculinidade e mostra como as mudanças de concepção sobre o pai, pensado não mais em função de uma tradição mas da sua capacidade de arcar com o desejo por uma mulher, têm conseqüências sobre a construção da posição masculina do filho.

ABSTRACT

This theoretical study examines the male's unconfortable position in the contemporary world since Freud and Lacan's theory. It is associated with an identity crisis due to the representations, based on the Oedipus context and on an idealization of paternal function, with which the social imaginary defines virility. Discussing the implications of the decline of the father in the formation of masculinity, it shows how changes in the conceptions on the father, thought no more according to a tradition but on his ability to cope with the desire for a woman, have consequences on the construction of a male son position.
