Promovendo habilidades sociais educativas parentais na prevenção de problemas de comportamento / Promoting parenting educational social skills in the prevention of behavior problems

RESUMO

Devido à importância de intervir em problemas de comportamento de crianças e adolescentes, uma variedade de intervenções com pais tem sido desenvolvida. Este estudo tem por objetivo descrever os efeitos de uma intervenção em grupo, a partir de múltiplas avaliações e instrumentos, que pretendeu melhorar a competência social dos pais e prevenir problemas de comportamento. Participaram 12 mães/pais de crianças e adolescentes e 2 mães de filhos adultos. Nas avaliações pré, pós-intervenção e seguimento foram utilizados instrumentos que investigam: Habilidades Sociais Educativas Parentais - RE-HSE-P, que investiga freqüência de HSE, bem como variáveis de contexto; habilidades sociais gerais - IHS-Del Prette; problemas de comportamento - CBCL, que classifica em normal e clínico (externalizante, internalizante e total). Durante as sessões, são discutidos temas referentes às HSE-P, tais como, expressar sentimento positivo, como iniciar e manter conversas, negociar, estabelecer regras, dentre outras. Algumas hipóteses foram confirmadas à medida que se verificou aumento na freqüência de HSE-P, em habilidades sociais gerais e diminuição de problemas de comportamento. Ao final, são apresentadas algumas limitações e contribuições sugeridas pelo estudo.

ABSTRACT

Given the importance of intervening in children’s and adolescents’ behavior problems, several intervention programs with parents were developed. This study aim to describe effects of a group intervention based on multiple evaluations and instruments that attempted to improve parental social competence and prevent behavior problems. Twelve mothers/fathers of children and adolescents and two mothers with adult children participated in the parenting program. Data collection for pre and pos-intervention evaluations and follow up investigated parental social educational skills (HSE-P), general social skills and behavior problems. During group sessions various themes about HSE-P were discussed, such as expressing positive feelings, having conversation, negotiating, establishing rules, and others. Results showed that the frequency of HSE-P and social skills improved whereas behavior problems decreased. Limitations and contributions of this research are presented.
