Discursos de usuários de um centro de atenção psicossocial-CAPS e de seus familiares / Speech of a psychosocial attendance center (CAPS) patients and their family members

RESUMO

Este trabalho aborda a construção do transtorno mental em discursos de usuários deum Centro de Atenção Psicossocial e de seus familiares. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, queteve como referencial teórico-metodológico a Psicologia social discursiva. Foram entrevistados15 usuários de um CAPS de Campina Grande-PB e 15 familiares. Em suas elaborações sobre ascausas ou determinantes da doença mental, foram detectados cinco fatores determinantes dadoença mental biológicos, socioeconômicos, psicossociais, psicológicos e sobrenaturais. Já emsuas elaborações discursivas sobre os sintomas e sinais da doença mental, sobre o modo como semanifesta, predominaram descrições nas quais o doente mental aparece como um ser incapaz deautonomia, um ser de desrazão, caracterizado pelo descontrole e pela periculosidade. Em outraspalavras, são discursos que descrevem o doente mental com os mesmos termos encontrados nodiscurso psiquiátrico usado para justificar a ordem manicomial, discursos que reproduzem osestereótipos sobre a loucura e que são dominantes no imaginário social.

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the construction of the mental disturbance in the speech of aPsychosocial Attendance Center patients and their family members. It is a qualitative research thathas a theoretical methodological approach related to the Social Discursive Psychology. 15 patientsof a CAPS – Psychological Attendance Center of Campina Grande have been interviewed as wellas 15 family members. Along the elaborations about the determinant causes of the mental diseasehave been detected biological, socioeconomic, psychosocial, psychological and supernaturalcauses. Besides, in the discursive elaborations about the symptoms and signals of the mentaldisease the way it shows up, predominated descriptions that denote that the mental patient isnot seen as a person capable of independency, but as a person who’s not able to think, a personwhose main characteristics are the lack of control and the criminal tendency. That means thatthe discourses describe a mental patient with the same terms found in the psychiatric speechused to justify the madhouse structure, discourses that reproduce the stereotype about madnessthat prevails in the social imaginary.
