Pompage no tratamento da síndrome de fibromialgia: estudo piloto / Effects of pompage in people with fibromyalgia syndrome: pilot study

RESUMO

A fibromialgia é uma síndrome caracterizada por dor muscular difusa envovendo concomitante fadiga, distúrbios no sono e frequentemente depressão. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos das técnicas de Pompage na sintomatologia de portadores da SF. Foram avaliadas 8 pacientes, sexo feminino, com idade de 42+-5 anos e diagnóstico médico de SF sendo que 4 destas foram selecionadas a participar do estudo pois preencheram os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos. A avaliação inicial constou de (1) palpação dos "tender points"; (2) aplicação de Escalas análogas Visuais (EVAs) para avaliação da rigidez e da qualidade do sono; (3) aplicação da escala numérica para avaliação da dor. As pacientes foram submetidas a 10 sessões de tratamento, distribuídas em 3 vezes semanais, com duração de aproximadamente trinta minutos e em cada sessão foram realizadas as pompages global, sacral, cervical, trapézio superior, esterno-occipito-mastóideo e lombar, seguindo esta sequência. Ao início e término de cada sessão foi realizada a avaliação da dor por meio das EVAs descritas. Ao término do tratamento, as pacientes foram submetidas à reavaliação contendo os mesmos itens da avaliação inicial. Houve uma melhora da maioria das pacientes quanto à sintomatologia (qualidade do sono, rigidez, dor e diminuição no número de "tender points" positivos). Sendo assim concluí-se no presente estudo que a técnica de tratamento de pompage trouxe benefícios às pacientes proporcionando melhora na sintomatologia, colaborando desta forma com o bem estar geral das pacientes.

ABSTRACT

Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic diffuse musculoskeletal pain disorder involving concomitant fatigue; sleep disturbance and, often, depression. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of pompage in fibromyalgia symptoms. For this study, 8 female patients with fibromyalgia were evaluated and only 4 were selected to initiale the treatment program including pompages because they presented the established criteria of inclusion of the study. The initial evaluation consisted of (1) "tender points" palpation; (2) application of Visual Analogos Scales (VASs) for evaluation of the rigidity and the quality of sleep; (3) Application of the numerical scale for evoluation of pain. The patients were submitted to 10 sessions of pompage treatment, 3 times in a week with duration of 30 minutes each session. The pompages were "global", "sacral", "cervical", "superior", "esterno-occipito-mastoideo" and "lombar", always following this sequence. The pain was evaluated at the begging and at end in each session, by VAS. After treatment, the patients were submitted to a reevaluation with the same items described fot the initial evaluation. It was observed in present study that the pompage treatment was effective because the results showed a descrease in fibromyalgia symptoms (quality of sleep, rigidity, pain and reduction of positives tender points) It was concluded that pompage brought improvement in fibromyalgia symptoms in these patients.
