ABSTRACT
The Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is a set of metabolics problems that present in a simultaneous way in the same individual, having as a basic sign the insulin resistance. Its importance is beca use this condition, increase the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, causing high morbimortality. According with the diagnostic criterion, there are six components Abdominal obesity; Atherogenic Dyslipidemia, with in crease of triglycerides, presence of sma/l and dense LDL -c, and decrease of HDL-C; Arterial Hypertension ; Insulin resistance with Glucose intolerance or Diabetes; Proinflammatory state, with elevation of proinflammatories cytokines, C protein, and prothrombotic condition, with in crease of fibrinogen and 1-PAI. In 1999 the OMS propose several diagnostic criterions, been agreed by the experts panel of TPA III of NCEP ( National Colesterol Education Program) in 2001. A third criterion is given by the 2004 Consenssus of the International Diabetes Federation (lDF). The MS treatment includes an integral managment of its components.
