Introduction:
The objective of the present work is to propose a long-term evaluation model of the breasts after reduction mammaplasty.Method:
Forty patients who underwent reductionmammaplasty using an inferior pedicle technique were evaluated. Supraesternal notch-tonipple(SNN) and nipple-to-inframammary fold (NIF) distances in addition to horizontal scar (HS) and vertical scar (VS) lengths were measured. Paired T-test was utilized for statistic analyses, with significant values for p<0.05.Results:
SNN increased slowly after the sixthpostoperative month. However, NIF was longer since the first postoperative month and it rose quickly. Although VS augmented steadily after the first postoperative month, HS followedin random. Conclusion:
In inferior pedicle flap techniques the vertical part of the scar should be the smallest possible in order to prevent further stretching.
