ABSTRACT
Pythagoras, the mathematics studious, established proportions with pattern of the beauty and aesthetic harmony. Being called for many researchers as the golden proportion. The golden proportion is generated from the proportionality that if express for incommensurable number 1,618033... (generally used 1,618). The study of this theme it is the interest of the most varied areas, Orthodontics, Bucomaxilofacial Surgery, Dentistry and Plastic Surgery. Ricketts, 1982; Amoric, 1995; Gil, 1999; Gil & Medici Filho, 2002 when carrying through cephalometric analyses had proven the existence of the golden proportion in some measures. In sight of this work of research verified the golden proportion in the lateral cephalometric radiographic in 37 patients bringer Class II malocclusion, before and after the orthodontic treatment. We conclude that from the 19 studied reasons, eight had differed significant statistics, being that seven of these eight, had approached to the golden number after treatment.
