Aleitamento materno e sua inter-relação com hábitos bucais deletérios e más oclusões na dentição mista / Breast feeding and the relationship with oral habits and malocclusions on mixture denture

RESUMO

O aleitamento materno exclusivo até o sexto mês e parcial até um ano de idade é fundamental para o crescimento e desenvolvimento sadio da criança. Qualquer alteração funcional nesse período poderá acarretar no aparecimento de hábitos bucais, podendo gerar uma má-oclusão. Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar 93 crianças de 7 a 11 anos de idade pertencentes à Disciplina de Clínica Infantil do Curso de Graduação em Odontologia da UMESP, correlacionando o aleitamento materno com possíveis hábitos bucais e más-oclusões para auxílio no diagnóstico e tratamento ortodôntico na dentição mista. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de uma análise da ficha clínica da Disciplina e por um questionário respondido pelas mães das crianças. Constatou-se que 13% das crianças não receberam aleitamento materno e que a maioria foi amamentada num período de 6 meses a 1 ano de idade (37%). O hábito bucal deletério prevalente nas crianças que não foram amamentadas, nas que foram por menos de 6 meses e de 6 meses a 1 ano, foi a sucção de chupeta; enquanto que nas crianças que receberam aleitamento materno por mais de 1 ano, o hábito prevalente foi a onicofagia (40%) e o bruxismo (40%). A má-oclusão na relação ântero-posterior mais prevalente em todos os tipos de amamentação foi a Classe I de Angle; a alteração vertical mais encontrada foi a mordida profunda e mordida aberta anterior; em relação a alteração transversal a mais prevalente foi a mordida cruzada posterior.

ABSTRACT

Only breast feeding until the sixth month and in part until the first year is essential for the childïs healthy growth and development. Any changing in this period can cause the appearence of oral habits, generating malocclusoin. The studyïs aim was to evaluate 93 children between 7 and 11 years old belonging to the Childrens Clinic Discipline of the Dentistry Course from UMESP, relating the breast feeding with possible oral habits and malocclusions to help on the diagnosis and orthodontic treatment of mixture denture. The results were obtained from the analisis of the clinical file and questionnaire answered by the chidrenïs mothers. It has been demonstrated that 13% of the children didnït get the breast fedding and that almost all of them have been fed between six month to 1 year (37%). The main oral habit in children that didnït have breast feeding, which used sucking tube were less than six months to six months and one year; meanwhile those with breast feeding longer than one year, the main habit was onychophagy (40%) and the bruxism (40%). The main malocclusion in all ways of breast feeding was Class I Angle; the vertical alteration was the deep bite and open bite; the most transversal alteration was the posterior cross bite.
