Assistência de enfermagem aos pacientes sob investigação de epilepsia submetidos ao Vídeo-EEG prolongado: [revisão] / Assistance of nursing to the patients who are undergoing in epilepsy investigation to the prolonged Video-EEG: [review]

RESUMO

OBJETIVO: Elaborar as ações de enfermagem pertinentes ao exame de Vídeo-EEG, de modo a colaborar na investigação das crises epilépticas e das necessidades humanas básicas afetadas. METODOLOGIA: Realizou-se uma revisão da literatura nacional e internacional, através de artigos disponíveis nos bancos de dados do PUBMED, SCIENCEDIRECT, MEDLINE e SCIELO, nos últimos nove anos. RESULTADOS: O papel da enfermagem no Vídeo-EEG é de proteger o paciente contra os riscos de quedas durante as crises, propiciar atividades recreativas e realizar os procedimentos de preparo, manutenção e finalização do exame. CONCLUSÃO: Por esta razão, sugerimos que a enfermagem deva envolver-se no aprimoramento científico na área de neurociências e epileptologia, visando detectar os fatores que interferem no cotidiano dos pacientes epilépticos ou sob investigação diagnóstica de epilepsia. Sendo que o vídeo-EEG é um instrumento facilitador para a enfermagem na obtenção de dados valiosos que podem servir de base na elaboração de produção científica para a saúde pública.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To make a nursing care plan for the Video-EEG monitoring in order to collaborate with the investigation of the epileptic seizures and the affected basic human needs. METHOD: A review of the national and international literature through PUBMED, SCIENCEDIRECT, MEDLINE and SCIELO websites, during the last nine years. RESULTS: The nursing role on the VEEG is to protect the patient against injuries during seizures, propitiate recreational activities and all the procedures for the examination. CONCLUSION: Therefore, we suggest that nursing must be involved in constant improvement in neuroscience and epileptology, detect what factors that epilepsy may interfere in the patient's life, or those who are undergoing in epilepsy investigation. Thus, Video-EEG gathers precious information that can be the scientific basis for the public health.
