ABSTRACT
To study the eating pattern of individuals who practice exerciation between macronutrients (MN) or energy intake (EI) and the scores of habitual physical activity (HPA). It was analysed people who were attending a course in a gym. Recent food intake was evaluated with a 24-Hour Dietary Recall. Individuals were asked to answer a social-demographic questionnaire as well as an HPA questionnaire. The relationship between food intake and HPA was evaluated by Pearson correlation coeficient. Student´s t test was used to compare means of food intake and HPA scores. The relationship between medians of scores of HPA or gender and intake was analyse dusing Fisher test. Considering the World Health Organization recommendations, the protein (PTN) intake was within there commendations in 69% of the people, while carbohidrate and lipid (LIP) achieved the recommendations in only 50%.Moreover, the LIP intake overstepped the values recommended in 38,8% of the individuals. The MN and EI were not correlated to the HPA scores, and only the age was inversely correlated to the EI (r=0,41;p=0,021). The means of energy /leisure scores were higher in males than in females. The eating pattern of this population was not according to the recommendations, what might prevent those who practice regular exercises in gyms from achieving their goals, and may also contribute with the development of non-transmitable chronic diseases.
