Pesquisa etnográfica em educação física: uma (re)leitura possível / Ethnographic research in physical education - a possible (re)reading

RESUMO

Este trabalho objetiva discutir a pesquisa etnográfica no campo da educação física. Constata-se que no meio acadêmico da área a etnografia tem sido comumente conceituada como mera descrição cultural, ou aplicação de um conjunto de técnicas de coleta de dados, o que traduz certo reducionismo. A partir dessa crítica, é desenvolvida uma (re)leitura sobre a etnografia que a situa como processo de pesquisa que transita entre o conhecimento particular(de grupos específicos) e geral (da sociedade como um todo). Sendo interpretativa, a etnografia insere-se no horizonte de um entendimento possível, porém contextualizado, sobre os fatospesquisados. Para além de tensionar teoria X cotidiano, local X global nas práticas cotidianas da educação física, a etnografia constitui-se na tentativa de compreensão do “outro” e aprendizagem com o outro.

ABSTRACT

The present work is aimed at discussing ethnographic research in the field of physical education. In the academic environment of physical education, ethnography has been usually viewed as a mere cultural description, or the application of a set of data collection techniques, which translates a certain reductionism. Starting from this critique, a (re)reading of ethnography is developed, one that situates it as a research process that transits between local knowledge (of specific groups) and global knowledge (of the society as a whole). Being interpretative, ethnography is inserted within a horizon of a possible understanding, however contextualized, on the researched data. Beyond confronting theory x quotidian, local x global in the everyday practices of physical education, ethnography is an attempt of understanding the other and learning with the other.
