ABSTRACT
The proposition of the current work is to present a goal commitment assessment instrument. An experiment was carried out using the three point basketball throw, with 12 subjects who had never participated in systemized training. The study was divided into three stages the pre-test, involving 10 trials without a goal set by the experimenters; the acquisition phase involving 10 series of 10 trials with a goal based on the pre-test performance; the post-test, involving 10 trials without a goal established by the experimenters. In order to assess the commitment of the subjects with the goal, a questionnaire was presented, made up of two questions on the use of the goal in the acquisition phase and in the post-test, with their respective justifications. The score average, analyzed by the Wilcoxon test, indicated an improvement in the pre-test and post-test performance [Z(n= 12)= 2,01, p< 0,01]. In the questionnaire analysis, the Mann-Whitney test indicated the commitment with the goal set by the experimenters in the acquisition phase [Z(n= 12)= 2,77, p< 0,001] and during the post-test and the Friedman test it indicated the commitment with the goals set by the subjects [X2 (N=11, df= 3)= 21, p< 0,001]. The current study presents a goal commitment assessment instrument where new studies are necessary for improvement.
