O que leva uma mãe a abandonar um filho? / What leads a mother to abandon her child?

RESUMO

Em todos os tempos existiram mães que não puderam ou não quiseram criar seus filhos. A presente pesquisa visou avaliar a qualidade da interação familiar percebida por essas mães em suas próprias infâncias. As pesquisas atuais consideram que as experiências da mãe em sua família de origem são influenciadoras à sua maternagem futura. Buscaram-se 21 mães que abandonaram seu(s) filho(s), por meio de uma amostra intencional, e solicitaram-se 21 mães, indicadas por essas, porém sem história de abandono de filho(s), para verificar a qualidade de suas interações familiares em outrora. Para tanto, foram utilizadas as Escalas de Qualidade de Interação Familiar e concluiu-se, com dados estatisticamente significativos, que as mães que abandonaram seu(s) filho(s) foram filhas abandonadas, inseridas em uma infância marcada por maus-tratos e negligência parental.

ABSTRACT

In all times always existed mothers that couldn’t or didn’t want to raise their children. This research aimed to evaluate the quality of family interaction to which these mothers have been submited during their childhood, and its influence on their future motherhood. The abandoning mothers were intentionally sampled and mothers without a history of abandonment were indicated as controls by the group of abandoning mothers, with 21 mothers in each group. Participants completed the Scale of Family Interaction’s Quality, and the differences and similarities between groups were established through statistical analysis. The main results are that abandoning mothers were abandoned daughters and had a childhood history of neglectful parenting and maltreatment.
