Processo de trabalho na produção de verduras no Alvinho, em Lagoa Seca/PB: a atividade dos trabalhadores e sua relação com o processo saúde–doença / Working process in the production of vegetables in Alvinho, Lagoa Seca/PB: the activity of the workers and its relationship with the health-disease process

RESUMO

Este artigo objetiva mostrar a atividade dos agricultores da plantação de verduras do Alvinho, em Lagoa Seca/PB e suas repercussões sobre a saúde e o bem-estar. O método utilizado foi a instrução ao sósia e as técnicas das observações gerais e sistemática e entrevista semi-estruturada. Na análise do trabalho se verificou que o processo de produção de verduras se divide em 10 etapas. Na etapa da pulverização os agricultores aplicam os agrotóxicos sem uso de EPI’s apropriados para esta atividade. Logo o processo de trabalho da produção de verduras possui muitos agravos para a saúde dos trabalhadores (ST), porém, não se constatou nenhuma doença estabelecida. Os sintomas mais referidos pelos agricultores, provavelmente, decorrentes do manuseio dos agrotóxicos, foram câimbras, coceiras pelos braços e dores de cabeça. Em face do esforço físico excessivo se queixaram de dores de coluna. Concluindo não há no SUS do município atenção à ST para os agricultores rurais que manipulam os agrotóxicos.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to show the activity of the farmers planting vegetables in Alvinho, Lagoa Seca/PB and its effects on their health and welfare. The method used was the “instructions for the double” and the techniques of the general and systematic observation and semi-structured interview. In the analysis of the work it was verified that the production of vegetables is divided into 10 steps. In the spraying step, farmers apply the pesticides without the use of appropriate IPE for this activity. Hence, the working process on the production of vegetables presents many problems to the workers’ health (WH), however, no developed disease was found. The symptoms most mentioned by farmers, probably arising from the handling of pesticides, were cramps, itchings on the arms and headaches. In face of the excessive physical, they have complained of back pain. In conclusion, the Unique Health System (SUS) does not provide attention to WH for the rural farmers who handle the pesticides.
