OBJETIVO:
Descrever a atuação dos profissionais da área de enfermagem frente à alteração da deglutição.MÉTODOS:
Estudo transversal e comparativo de amostragem estratificada no qual foram entrevistados 130 profissionais da área de enfermagem de um Hospital Universitário por meio de um questionário.A média de idade dos grupos foi de 29,16 com 11,81 de desvio padrão, sendo 64 por cento do sexo feminino e 23 por cento do sexo masculino. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise estatística por meio do teste Exato de Fischer, sendo considerada significância de 5 por cento.RESULTADOS:
92,33 por cento dos profissionais pesquisados relataram que o fonoaudiólogo é o profissional responsável pela reabilitação dos pacientes com alteração da deglutição. Na amostra estudada, 87 por cento demonstraram ter conhecimento adequado sobre as doenças que podem levar à alteração da deglutição e 94,66 por cento afirmaram saber identificar os casos em que os pacientes apresentam algum sinal ou sintoma da alteração da deglutição. Essa pesquisa permitiu demonstrar que, em alguns itens relacionados à alteração da deglutição, os enfermeiros estão mais preparados que os técnicos e estes mais preparados que os auxiliares de enfermagem.CONCLUSÕES:
De forma geral, os profissionais têm uma intervenção adequada diante das alterações da deglutição em pacientes internados.ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
To describe the performance of nursing professionals with patients with swallowing disorders.METHODS:
Cross-sectional, comparative study of stratified sampling, where 130 nursing professionals of a university hospital were interviewed. The mean age of the groups was 29.16 years, with a standard deviation of 11.81. From the professionals interviewed, 64 percent were female, and 23 percent were male. Data were statistically analyzed using the Exact Fischer's test, with a significance level of 5 percent.RESULTS:
From the interviewed professionals, 92.33 percent reported that the speech therapist is the professional responsible for the rehabilitation of patients with swallowing disorders; 87 percent showed appropriate knowledge about the diseases that might cause swallowing disorders, and 94.66 percent declared to know how to identify patients with signs or symptoms of swallowing disorders. The present study allowed demonstrating that nurses are more prepared than technicians, who are more prepared than nursing assistants, in some related items regarding swallowing disorders.CONCLUSIONS:
In general, the nursing professionals interviewed have an adequate intervention before swallowing disorders in hospitalized patients.
