RESUMO
Objetivos:
este estudo buscou identificar mecanismos de coping utilizados por mulheres mastectomizadas para lidar com o estresse.Métodos:
foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, em que a coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista. Participaram seis mulheres integrantes do grupo de apoio "Amigas do Peito", vinculado a um hospital da região noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul.Resultados:
da análise das informações emergiu a categoria analítica "estresse em mulheres mastectomizadas mecanismos de coping". As estratégias referidas pelas mulheres para enfrentar o estresse foram o suporte da família, a participação no grupo e o apoio dos profissionais da equipe de saúde, os quais se constituem em coping de suporte social percebido.Conclusões:
os resultados obtidos possibilitaram compreender melhor como as mulheres lidam com o sofrimento ocasionado pela doença, considerando que a mastectomia é um processo que implica em mudanças físicas, psicológicas e sociais na mulher e em seus familiares.ABSTRACT
Aims:
This study aimed to identify types of coping used by mastectomized women to deal with stress.Methods:
A qualitative, descriptive research was conducted, in which the gathering of the data was done through interviews. Six women, members of a support group associated to a hospital in the northwest of Rio Grande do Sul, took part in the study.Results:
The analytical category "stress in mastectomized women mechanisms of coping" emerged from the analysis of the data. The strategies used by the women to deal with the stress were the family support, participating in the group, and the help of health professionals, which consists in coping of perceived social support.Conclusions:
The results made possible to understand how women deal with the suffering caused by the disease, considering that mastectomy is a process that involve physical, psychological and social changes in the woman and her family.
