Educar para prevenir la sepsis urinaria y riesgos en la atención a pacientes / To educate to prevent the urinary sepsis and the risks in patient care

RESUMEN

La educación del individuo, familia y colectividad sobre los problemas de salud es condición esencial para toda acción salubrista. Entre los principios de nuestro Sistema Nacional de Salud se encuentra que las acciones de salud deben ser de carácter integral con especial acento preventivo con énfasis en actividades educativas. Fueron objetivos en este estudio actualizar los conocimientos acerca de causas de sepsis urinaria bajas y altas, profundizar sobre sus manifestaciones y la labor educativa para elevar su prevención y evitar riesgos de adquisición y complicaciones en el proceso de atención. Se realizó revisión documental acerca de sepsis urinaria baja y alta, factores mecánicos que la favorecen, así como aquellos que propician la retención de orina en la vejiga, también manifestaciones de sepsis urinaria baja. La Escherichia coli causa 60 por ciento de sepsis baja, frecuente Proteus en niños, Estafilococos áureos, Pseudomona aureginosa y Salmonella en sepsis alta. Se abordó el rigor de enfermería al preparar pacientes para pruebas e intervenciones quirúrgicas. Se destaca la necesidad de que el personal de enfermería eleve su competencia profesional en acciones preventivo-curativas, así como modificar hábitos y conductas de la población, ya que la enfermera tiene posibilidades por la continuidad de atención y contacto directo con la población comunitaria y hospitalizada(AU)

ABSTRACT

The education of the individual, the family, and the community on health problems is an essential condition for public health action. According to the principles of our Health National System health actions should have an integral character with a special preventive emphasis on the educative activities. This study was aimed at updating the knowledge on the causes of lower and upper urinary sepsis, at going deep into its manifestations and the educative work to increase its prevention, and at avoiding risks of acquisition and complications in the care process. We made a documentary review on upper and lower urinary sepsis, mechanisms favoring it, as well as on those propitiating the urine retention in the bladder and manifestations of lower urinary sepsis. Escherichia coli causes 60 percent of lower sepsis, frequent presence of Proteus in children, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella in upper sepsis. The rigor of Nursing on preparing patients for tests and surgical interventions is approached. It is necessary that nurses increase their professional competence in preventive-curative actions, and to modify habits and behaviors of the population, since nurses have the possibility to continue giving care and to be in direct contact with the community and the admitted population(AU)
