Producción científica sobre ontologías en el Web of Science, 1998 - 2007 / Scientific production on ontologies in Web of Science, 1998-2007

RESUMEN

Se estudian brevemente algunas cuestiones conceptuales relacionadas con las ontologías. Se analiza el comportamiento de las ontologías como dominio científico en las revistas procesadas por el Web of Science en el período 1998-2007. A partir de la exploración bibliográfica de las bases de datos Science Citation Index y Social Science Citation Index de Thomson Scientific, se obtuvieron un total de 240 registros. Para el procesamiento y representación de la información se utilizaron como herramientas los programas Ucinet, Sitkis 2.0, MS Access y MS Excel. Se emplearon indicadores métricos tradicionales y el análisis de redes de co-citación. Se identificaron los autores, instituciones, países, palabras clave y revistas más frecuentes, así como los niveles de colaboración existentes entre autores e instituciones.

ABSTRACT

Some conceptual issues on ontologies are studied. We analyzed the behavior of ontologies as a scientific domain in journals processed by Web of Science during 1998-2007. From a literature search of the Web of Science databases, using the Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index of the Thomson Scientific, a total of 240 records was obtained. For the handling and representation of information we used as tools the software Ucinet, Sitkis 2.0, MS Access and MS Excel display and the traditional metric indicators and network analysis of co- citation. We identified also the principal authors, institutions, countries, keywords, journals and levels of collaboration between authors and institutions.
