RESUMEN

Para mejorar la calidad de los artículos recibidos en una revista científica, es necesario tener un proceso de evaluación, tanto de la estructura del artículo presentado como de su redacción, y lo que es más importante aún, su calidad científica. Con el objetivo evaluar y describir algunos parámetros de calidad de la Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral en los años 2002 y 2006, se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo y retrospectivo a los volúmenes 18 y 22 de la Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral de los años ya mencionados. Se evaluaron aspectos de la calidad de los artículos en este período. Las deficiencias más frecuentes se encontraron en el título, la formulación de preguntas, los objetivos y en las conclusiones. La actualidad, la pertinencia, la utilización de la bibliografía internacional y de las normas establecidas fue adecuada. La revista no posee la calidad que requieren las expectativas y necesidades de los profesionales de la salud.

ABSTRACT

To improve the quality of the articles received in a scientific journal, it is necessary to have an evaluation process of the estructure of the article and of its writing, and what is even more important of its scientific quality. An observational, descriptive and retrospective study of the volumes 18 and 22 of the Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral of the above mentioned years was conducted aimed at evaluating and describing some quality parameters. Aspects related to the quality of the articles in this period were evaluated. The most frequent deficiencies were found in the title, the formulation of questions, the objectives and the conclusions. The currentness, relevancy, and the use of international bibliography and of the established norms proved to be adequate. The quality of the journal does not meet the expectations and needs of the health professionals.
