RESUMEN

La calidad de vida del paciente diabético depende, en gran medida, de la adquisición de comportamientos saludables. Esto permite evitar al máximo trastornos y problemas que se dan en la vida cotidiana. Enfrentarse a una enfermedad crónica como la diabetes mellitus constituye un reto importante para la vida del paciente afectado como en la cotidianidad de la experiencia familiar. Los cambios en los hábitos, la eliminación de conductas riesgosas para la salud, y la adquisición de nuevos comportamientos que resulten una mejor calidad de vida no son siempre fáciles de asumir. La diabetes mellitus es una enfermedad que podría ser prevenida, en algunos casos, a partir de hábitos y comportamientos saludables, los cuales forman parte de un adecuado estilo de vida.

ABSTRACT

The quality of life of the diabetic patient depends in a great extent on the acqusition of healthy behaviors. This allows to prevent the disorders and problems appearing in daily life. Facing a chronic disease as diabetes mellitus is an important challenge for the patient's life within his family context. The changes of habits, the elimination of risky behaviors for health and the adoption of new behaviors resulting in a better quality of life are not always easy to assume. Diabetes mellitus is a disease that could be prevented is some cases starting from healthy habits and behaviors, which are part of and adequate life style.
