Morbimortalidad en la unidad de cuidados intensivos pediátricos: año 2006 / Morbimortality in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: year 2006

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo para determinar el comportamiento de la morbimortalidad en los niños ingresados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos (UCIP) del Hospital General Docente Dr Antonio Luaces Iraola en el año 2006. Utilizamos como fuente de información las historias clínicas y el libro de registro de la sala, los datos obtenidos se procesaron manualmente y se analizaron por medidas de frecuencia presentándolos en tablas estadísticas, obteniéndose los siguientes resultados: Los grupos de edades con más ingresos fueron 1-4 años (40.9 por ciento) y menores de un año (29.1 por ciento). El 53 por ciento proceden de las salas hospitalarias y el 42.4 porciento del cuerpo de guardia. Las morbilidades más frecuentes fueron las afecciones respiratorias (23.6 por ciento). (Tabla 3). El 15.6 por ciento de los menores de un año se encontró en evaluación nutricional por debajo del 3 percentil. La letalidad del servicio fue de 2.7, la del menor de un año 5.2. La letalidad por sepsis fue de 19, seguida por las infecciones del sistema nervioso central con 3.2.

ABSTRACT

There has been done a descriptive observational study with the purpose to determine the behaviour of morbimortality in admitted children in the pediatric intensive care unit(PICU) of General Hospital Dr Antonio Luaces Iraola in 2006. To do this study there were used the medical records and registry book of the unit. The obtained information was processed manually, there was analized by frequency messures and presented in statistical tables, arriving to the following results: the age group with more number of admissions were 1-4 years old (40,9 percent) and under a year old (29,1 percent). The 53 percent comes from hospital wards and the 42,4 percent from guard corps. The most frequent morbidities were respiratory conditions (23,6 percent). (Table 3). The 15,6 percent of children under a year old were found in nutritional evaluation below the third percentile. The service lethality was of 2,7, the one of the children under a year old 5,2. The lethality for sepsis was of 19, followed by the infections of Central Nervous System with 3,2.
