RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio pre-experimental de intervención educativa de tipo antes – después para promover conductas responsables frente al hábito de fumar en el barrio Alayón, del estado Aragua. República Bolivariana de Venezuela en el período comprendido de enero 2006- enero 2007. El universo de estudio estuvo conformado por los integrantes del consejo de salud, acreditados y los pacientes fumadores que participaron en el programa educativo. La investigación tuvo 3 etapas, primeramente una etapa de diagnóstico con la aplicación del instrumento, en la segunda se aplicó el programa educativo y en la tercera etapa se aplicó el mismo instrumento, donde se encontró que el nivel de conocimiento sobre hábito de fumar en los integrantes del consejo de salud, después de la intervención es alto. Se incrementó la información en los fumadores sobre el daño a la salud del cigarrillo, logrando habilitar áreas de fumar dentro de los centros educacionales y públicos de la comunidad. Disminuyó la prevalencia de fumadores en el consultorio Barrio Adentro de Alayón con satisfacción en los pacientes del programa educativo.

ABSTRACT

A pre-experimental before-after study of educational intervention was carried out to promote responsible attitudes towards the smoking habit in the district ¨Alayón¨, of the Aragua state in Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela from January 2006 to January 2007. The universe of study was conformed by the members of the Health Council and the smoker patients who participated in the educative program. The investigation had 3 stages, firstly a stage of diagnosis with the application of the instrument, in second was applied the educative program and in the third stage the same instrument was applied once again. It was then checked the knowledge of the members of the health Council on smoking habit, after the intervention, was high. The information on the damage the cigarette brings about in smokers health was increased, having obtained areas qualified to smoke within the educational and public centers of the community. The prevalence of smokers in the doctor's office of the District ¨Alayón¨ decreased, noticing satisfaction in the patients of the educative program.
