Escuela nutricional para madres de niños desnutridos menores de 5 años / Nutrition school for mothers of malnourished children under 5 years of age

RESUMEN

Se realizó una intervención educativa sobre algunos aspectos relacionados con la nutrición, que incluyó a 78 madres de niños desnutridos menores de 5 años, pertenecientes al Policlínico Universitario Municipal de Santiago de Cuba. El ensayo comunitario, que se desarrolló en forma de escuela desde octubre del 2005 hasta igual mes del 2006, elevó considerablemente el conocimiento de las madres sobre la recuperación del estado nutricional de sus hijos, puesto que aprendieron a alimentarles y nutrirles adecuadamente para garantizar la calidad de su crecimiento y desarrollo durante la infancia.

ABSTRACT

An educational intervention on some aspects related to the nutrition was carried out in 78 mothers of malnourished children under 5 years of age from the Municipal University Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba. The community trial, which was conducted in a school form from October, 2005 to October, 2006, increased significantly the mothers' knowledge of the nutritional state recovery of their children, since they learned how to feed them appropriately to warrant the quality of their growth during the childhood.
