ABSTRACT
Following Lacan's reading of Joyce, I have developed a Lacanian thesis fundamental to the study of intergenerational transmission which uses a concept different from identification symptom continuation. Moreover, the emphasis Lacan placed on the sinthome does not prevent sublimation from being considered as one of the other possible continuations of Joyce's initial symptom.
