Qualidade de vida em pessoas com mais de 50 anos HIV+: um estudo comparativo com a população geral / Quality of life in people over HIV+: a comparative study with the general polulation

RESUMO

Introdução: o interesse pela qualidade de vida (QV) de pessoas com mais de 50 anos HIV+ se faz necessário por se tratarem de indivíduos com outras patologias associadas, próprias da velhice, que mascaram os sintomas, podendo ocasionar diagnóstico incerto ou inconclusivo. Objetivo: avaliar a QV em pessoas acima de 50 anos HIV+ e comparar com o índice de QV de pessoas da população geral sem a soropositividade para o HIV/aids. Métodos: participaram, de forma não probabilística e acidental, 43 pessoas HIV+, sendo 62,8% do sexo masculino e com idades variando de 51 a 78 anos (M = 55; DP = 4,6) e 43 pessoas sem a soropositividade para o HIV, sendo 76,7% do sexo feminino e com idades variando de 50 a 87 anos (M = 58,9; DP = 8,65). Os instrumentos utilizados foram questionário biodemográfico e escala de qualidade de vida para velhice (HOQOL-OLD). Foram feitas análises de estatísticas descritivas e multivariadas através do programa SPSS, versão 15.0. Resultados: o escore médio da QV geral apresentou-se relativamente bom para os participantes HIV+ (M = 55,3; DP = 14,6) e para a população geral (M = 59,3; DP = 17,1). No entanto, na avaliação por fatores, verificaram-se baixos níveis de QV nas dimensões "Morte e Morrer" e "Intimidade" para os participantes HIV+ e no fator "Morte e Morrer" para os participantes da população geral.Conclusão: embora a QV geral tenha-se apresentado boa, observa-se que a aids continua sendo associada à morte e a todo o sofrimento que lhe é pertinente, bem como impondo limitações para a vivência de relacionamentos íntimos das pessoas HIV+, o que afeta a QV dessa população.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: the interest in quality of life (QOL) of people aged over 50 HIV+ is necessary since they are individuals who have other diseases, whichdisguise the other symptoms and may cause uncertain or inconclusive diagnosis. Objective: to evaluate the QOL in people over 50 years old HIV + and compare it to the QOL of people from the general population without HIV/aids. Methods: 43 HIV + people participated in a non-probability and accidental study, 62.8% male, with ages ranging from 51 to 78 years old (M =55; SD = 4.6), 43 people without the positivity for HIV, 76.7% female, with ages ranging from 50 to 87 (M = 58.9; SD = 8.65). The instruments used were Biodemographic questionnaire and Quality of Life Scale for old age (HOQOL-Old). Analyses and multivariate statistics were described by SPSS, version 15.0. Results: the QOV general scoring average was good for the HIV + participants (M = 55.3; SD = 14.6) and the general population (M = 59.3; SD = 17.1). However, in an evaluation by factors, there were low levels of QOL dimensions in "Death and Dying"and "Intimacy" for participants who were HIV + and in the factor "Death and Dying" for participants of the general population. Conclusion: although the general QOL has been satisfactory, aids is still associated to death and suffering, as well as to be imposition of limitations to theexperience of intimate relationships for HIV + people, affecting their QOL in that sense.
