Fundamento históricos e epistemológicos no estudo do comportamento paterno / Historical and epistemological foundations the paternal behavior study

RESUMO

O comportamento paterno tem sido foco de interesse por parte de estudiosos de distintas tradições teórico-filósoficas na Psicologia a áreas correlatas, especialmente a partir da década de 1970. Por ser considerado um objeto de estudo multidimensional e altamente complexo, faz-se necessário o diálogo interdisciplinar entre os pesquisadores. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar elementos conciliáveis em relação às principais abordagens teóricas que têm se mostrado elucidativas para a compreensão do "comportamento paterno" ao longo da história. Primeiramente, serão identificados alguns elementos da Etologia e da Biologia Evolucionária clássicas, por serem as precursoras da Psicologia Evolucionista (PE) contemporânea na explicação do comportamento paterno tanto em espécies não humanas como na humana. Em seguida, serão apresentados argumentos para demonstrar que, ainda que apresentem uma distinção em seus postulados filosóficos, a PE e a Psicologia Histórico-Cultural não apresentam divergências epistemológicas irreconciliáveis, na medida em que partem de uma postura marcadamente interacionista acerca da relação entre a biologia e cultura para a compreensão do comportamento em questão. Finalmente serão apresentadas algumas possíveis razões para se começar compreender a aparente falta de comunicação entre as duas abordagens teóricas.

ABSTRACT

Paternal behavior has been the focus of attention of researchers of distinct theoretical and philosophical affiliations, especially from the 1970s. Since it is regarded as a multidimensionaland highly complex object, it seems to be necessary some level of interdisciplinary dialog between researchers. The objective of this article is to identify reconcilable elements between the main theoretical approaches that have helped to understanding the "paternal behavior" throughout history. Firstly it will be identified some elements of the Ethology and Evolucionary Biology, since they are the precursors of Evolutionary Psychology (EP)explanations of contemporary paternal behavior in non-human as well as human species. Secondly, we argue that even if there are some distinction in its philosophical postulates, EP and the Historical-Cultural Psychology may lay on similar epistemological groundsbecause these two approaches share a markedly interactionist posture concerning the relation between biology and culture for understanding the parental behavior in general and paternal, specifically. Finally we will put forward some possible reasons to begin to understand the apparent lack of communication between the two theoretical approaches.
