Influência do uso do bionator de Balters na altura facial ântero-inferior, no posicionamento anterior da mandíbula e no ângulo mentolabial / Influence of the use of Balters bionator in the antero-inferior facial height on anterior position of the mandibule and in the mento-labial angle

RESUMO

As alterações esqueléticas, dentárias e dos tecidos moles promovidas pelo tratamento ortodôntico com o uso do bionator interferem diretamente na estética facial do indivíduo. Neste estudo, avaliaram-se as modificações ocorridas na altura facial ântero-inferior (Afai), no posicionamento anterior da mandíbula (Nperp-pog) e no ângulo mentolabial (AML), decorrentes do uso desse aparelho. A amostra constituiu-se de 32 telerradiografias laterais, iniciais e finais, de 16 pacientes do sexo feminino, brasileiras, leucodermas, com idades entre sete anos e dez meses e nove anos e dois meses, com má-oclusão de Classe II, 1ª Divisão e retrognatismo mandibular, tratadas por um período de 18 meses. O posicionamento anterior da mandíbula não sofreu alteração significativa, em virtude dos valores iniciais e finais de Nperp-pog não terem apresentado diferença estatisticamente significante. O AML e a Afai se alteraram significantemente, com a conseqüente alteração do perfil tegumentar facial, proporcionando assim uma melhora da estética facial.

ABSTRACT

The skeletal, dental and soft tissue alterations promoted by the orthodontic treatment with the use of Bionator interfere, in a direct way, in the facial esthetics of the individual. In this study, were evaluated the modifications that occurred in the antero-inferior facial height (Aifh), in the anterior position of the mandible, (Nperp-pog) and in the mento-labial angle (MLA), resulting from the use of this appliance. The sample constituted of 32 lateral cephalometric radiographs initials and finals of 16 females brazilian and caucasian patients, with ages between seven years and ten months and nine years and two months, Class II division I malocclusion with mandibular retrognatism, treated for 18 months. The anterior position of the mandible didn 't suffer significant alteration because of the initial and final values of Nperp-pog didn 't show statistical differences. The AML and Aifh altered in a statistically significant way, with the consequent alteration of the facial soft tissue profile, providing an improvement on the facial esthetics.
